Gina Crivello

Collaborating Partner of Family Lives and the Environment

On the basis of Young Lives, Gina is collaborating on Novella to explore the extent to which secondary analysis of qualitative data can capture children's everyday practices in contexts of poverty. In 2006 she joined Young Lives and her main role has been in relation to the development of the project's longitudinal qualitative case-study research in Ethiopia, India, Peru and Vietnam. In addition to developing methods for social research with young people, Gina's research has explored the relationship between poverty and children's everyday experiences of risk, as well as the role of mobility and migration as young people transition to adulthood. Gina has a PhD in Anthropology from the University of California where her research focused on the role of gender and inequalities in youth migration from Morocco to Europe.
